Ways to Give

Big Campus. Boundless Opportunities.

Major Gifts

Major gifts in support of specific programs or projects, consistent with the needs and priorities of the school, are always encouraged. These gifts expand our program and enhance the learning of our students. Parents and friends are welcome to contact the Advancement Team or Head of School with any questions concerning major gift opportunities.

Capital Campaigns

The Board of Trustees identifies areas in which the school program could be improved with additional facilities or funding. A Strategic Plan has been developed to guide decisions about future needs. Like any donation to GUS, these gifts are tax deductible and can be made at any time. For more information about capital funding or the Strategic Plan, please contact Martha Delay at mdelay@gus.org.

Restricted Funds

In addition to a General Endowment Fund, The Board of Trustees has created several restricted funds. If you are interested in contributing to the general endowment or to any of these restricted funds, or if you would like additional information, please contact Martha Delay at mdelay@gus.org. New funds may be created for special purposes with a gift of at least $50,000.

The following is a list of these funds:

  • Alan H. Feldman Faculty Endowment Fund (Head of School 1984-90)
  • Augustus P. Loring Library Fund
  • Donald H. Grace Music Fund (Head of School 1990-94)
  • GAIN@GUS Fund
  • Harry Groblewski Fund for Visiting Artists (Head of School 1980-84)
  • Kelly Stotz Wyke Fund for Science Education
  • Leslie Marchesseault Fund for Diversity + Inclusion
  • Northrup-Warren Nature Fund
  • Raymond Nance Fund (Head of School 1997-2012)

The mission of the Glen Urquhart School GAIN@GUS program is to provide access for students in the cities of Beverly, Lynn, and surrounding areas to academic and recreational summer enrichment. GAIN@GUS extends academic skills in math and language arts through classroom and outdoor experiences and off-campus day trips in the greater Boston area. Currently, GAIN@GUS meets for five weeks during the summer. Read more here.

How to Give

Gifts of cash may be made in the form of a check payable to GUS.

Gifts of securities may be delivered or electronically transferred to the school. Donors of appreciated securities receive a double benefit in the year the securities are tendered. The full market value of appreciated securities is generally tax deductible on the date of delivery or transfer. In addition, IRS regulations permit donations in the form of appreciated securities to be exempt from all capital gains tax liability. Details on how to transfer securities are available through the Advancement Office.

Matching Gifts from an employer are a wonderful way to double or even triple support. Please contact your employer to inquire if they will support GUS through a matching gift program. View the list of Matching Gift Companies in Massachusetts.

In-Kind Gifts are gifts of goods and services and are greatly appreciated. Please contact the Advancement Office for more information on the donation of or tax deductibility of an in-kind gift.
