Magnum Foundation Photography Exhibition at GUS

Monday, October 30, 2017

Glen Urquhart School is pleased to be hosting an exhibition of photographic works from the Magnum Foundation. The show, titled "Critical Explorations of Local Solutions: What Works" brings perspectives on what works locally, in communities around the world, and offer points of access for tackling issues of global relevance. The Magnum Foundation "What Works" project brought together nine photographers from Iran, Ukraine, Slovenia, Syria, India, Ecuador, China, and the Philippines to explore tolerance through rigorous and creative visual narratives. The projects address bridge-building amongst groups that might otherwise be in conflict. Featured artists in the collective exhibit at GUS include Xyza Cruz Bacani, Yuyang Liu, and Manca Juvan.

Glen Urquhart School has two art galleries that are open to the public and have rotating student and professional exhibits of contemporary art by emerging, mid-career, and established artists from the northeast and nationally, helping to expose our students to the art being made in their lifetime. All exhibitions are open to the public and serve our wider community on the North Shore. "What Works" will be on display in the GUS upper school gallery from October 29 through December 15th. Please check in with the school receptionist in the lower school, during regular school hours, to obtain access.
