Pre-K FAQs + Admission
At GUS we strongly believe in investing in children’s early education.
Glen Urquhart School is pleased to offer a new, full-day, Monday through Friday Pre-K program for children ages 3 to 5, starting in September 2018. The Pre-K program will expand upon our developmentally-aligned and innovative place and theme-based curriculum and will offer the full resources and amenities of our K-8 school and 23-acre campus to pre-k students and families. We are excited to launch this program and extend our progressive, time-tested curriculum to the earliest learners.

The GUS Pre-K is open to children ages 3 to 5 years old. Children must turn 3 by September 1, 2018 to be eligible to apply. Children turning 5 by September 1, 2018 are encouraged to apply to our kindergarten program, and/or speak with Kristie Gonzalez, Director of Admission, about kindergarten readiness.
The Pre-K classroom will be housed in the lower school building. Our large classroom space provides ample room for independent and collaborative learning, lunch and rest times, and a range of classroom activities. Our bright and expansive windows bring abundant natural light into the room and keep our classroom connected to the outside world. With both play structures and wide-open space just outside our classroom doors, children have regular and easy access to the outdoors, and many opportunities to observe their natural surroundings from inside. This connection between facilities and the natural environment is no accident; inside and out, our school celebrates the land. The evolution of Glen Urquhart School reflects a commitment to creating an environment where children love learning because they are engaged physically, intellectually, and emotionally. Part of that mission involves erasing the boundaries between the classroom and the world around us. True to our philosophy, our six acres of woodland, eight acres of wetland, three acres of open fields, and six acres of developed space are all active classrooms.
