GUS Pompa Circensis 2020

Every year 8th grade students at GUS participate in the famed Chariot Races! This event is part of a Latin class unit about Roman games and festivals. The GUS Chariot Races, similar to the Roman ones they are modeled after, are usually preceded by a short parade called a pompa circensis. Due to social distancing this year we decided to conduct the pompa virtually, with each student playing one of the traditional Roman roles in the parade. You will see 8th grade students portraying horse riders, soldiers, charioteers, athletes, shield dancers, musicians, satyrs, and statues of the Roman gods. Enjoy!
