Solar Eclipse: April 8

Students have been learning about eclipses and are eager to witness the event on Monday! On Monday, here in Beverly, we will see a partial eclipse of the sun. The moon will almost, but not entirely block the sun’s light. Students who are still on campus will have the opportunity to view it together. Students who leave at 3:00 p.m. will be sent home with solar viewers.

  • At 2:15 p.m. the eclipse will start

  • At 3:30 p.m. it will reach maximum coverage

  • At 4:39 p.m. the eclipse will be over

It is VERY Important to view the sun safely on any day but especially important on Monday. Only look at the sun with solar eclipse glasses or an eclipse viewer. These viewers are made with materials that both reflect and absorb light from the sun. Regular sunglasses do not provide enough protection.

GUS will provide everyone with viewers like these on Monday.

Enjoy this special event and watch safely!
