Happy Solstice from GUS

As we celebrate the holiday season and the winter solstice, we extend our warmest wishes to you and yours.

Winter Solstice is such a meaningful event, especially here at GUS. At our school celebration, one of my highlights was always former head of school Raymond Nance’s reading of Susan Cooper’s The Shortest Day - an enchanting homage to the winter solstice. As the shortest day and longest night, the solstice symbolizes the turning point towards brighter days ahead. While it is a time to celebrate, it is also a time to pause and appreciate the gift of hope and the value of peace. This year we are proud to present students of all ages reading this cherished poem.

During this holiday season, let us all wrap ourselves in the comfort of community and the love of family, finding solace and meaning in the gentle twinkling of stars and the quiet reflection of our hearts. May the promise of the winter solstice bring tranquility to your days, peace to your nights, and hope and joy to your hearts.

Welcome Yule!

Sincerely,
