Alumni Profile: Dylan Comb '04
Q+ A with Dylan Comb
Dylan Comb attended GUS from kindergarten through 8th grade, graduating in 2004. From there, he went on to Pingree School, where he graduated in 2007, then on to the University of Vermont, where he graduated in 2011. He received his Master’s degree in marine biology from Northeastern University in 2016.
Where are you and what are you doing now?
I live in Essex with my partner Kelsey, chasing our toddler Llewyn around the house with our cat Bowie. We do a lot of gardening, spend as much time outside as possible, and try to take advantage of the beautiful places we are lucky to live around. I work at Gloucester Marine Genomics Institute, where I use genetic tools to study fish and shellfish.
What was one of your most meaningful or memorable GUS experiences?
Grandfriends Day, Huzzah, Bread Day, Boar Cup, trips to the White Mountains, and the New York City trip!
In what ways do you feel GUS prepared you for what you're doing now?
GUS encouraged me to be myself, to remain curious, and provided a solid educational foundation for the future. I made some of my best friends at GUS and I still see several of my classmates regularly, over 20 years later.
Any words of advice for current GUS students?
Be kind to each other, ask questions and go outside!
