June Letter from HOS: Celebrating Summer
As we reach the end of another remarkable year, it's time to embrace the warmth of summer and celebrate all that we've accomplished.
With my own child graduating, most people thought I would be an emotional wreck at graduation, but what initially felt sad became incredibly exciting! Knowing my child and her classmates are totally ready for this next chapter made it a wonderful celebration of all they have accomplished and of what is to come. One of my favorite GUS traditions, our graduation speakers, only further cemented my belief that GUS has prepared our graduates well. Christian and Mattea, 8th graders when the graduating class was in Kindergarten, delivered wonderful speeches with valuable words of wisdom that left their old teachers bursting with pride. This tradition is such a wonderful way to highlight what is to come for our graduates in a way that feels so authentically GUS.
As we bid farewell to our graduating eighth graders, we also recognize beloved faculty members who have touched our lives deeply. It is never easy to say goodbye, but we know great opportunities and big adventures await. How lovely it was to celebrate Dawn and Patty at the spring Gala! We are grateful to recognize all those who have served GUS and especially those who are moving on. We hope they will keep in touch and leave knowing that GUS will think of them fondly.
This summer also marks a new adventure for Emilie Cushing, who will study volcanoes in Hawaii with her Tadler grant, a well-deserved opportunity as she enters her 25th year at GUS and continues the tradition of innovation.
Thank you to all for the support and dedication, and may you all enjoy a well-deserved and restful summer!
Trust and Go Forward,
