Glen Urquhart School Celebrates the Class of 2025
Glen Urquhart School Class of 2025
On Wednesday, June 11, Glen Urquhart School (GUS) celebrated the 25 members of the Class of 2025 during the 44th graduation exercises at their campus in Beverly Farms, MA.
Gathered on Bartlett Field under sunny skies, friends, family, faculty, and staff celebrated the graduating class of 2025. Presented annually by Head of School, Gretchen Forsyth, GUS ‘graduate introductions’ recognize each graduate individually for their unique contributions to the school community, and are collectively written by GUS faculty members.
“Stay true to yourself, be brave and take chances, chase down joy, relish the moments, big or small, and make them meaningful,” shared Head of School Gretchen Forsyth. “Continue to question, to wonder, and to create. Push through hardship and trust that you will get to where you are meant to be. You are a class that has demonstrated amazing resilience, an ability to find the good in every situation, and a desire to truly live in the moment.”
A treasured GUS graduation tradition is welcoming alumni back to speak to the graduating class. Graduation speakers return to GUS as recent college graduates (they were in 8th grade when our 8th graders were in Kindergarten!), to speak to the graduating class. This year’s alumni graduation speakers were Christian Pulido ’17, who recently graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science in Materials Science & Engineering, and Mattea Whitlow ’17, who recently graduated from Smith College with a Bachelor of Science in Statistical and Data Sciences.
“I really do think back fondly on my time at GUS, and attribute much of who I am to the people I met during my time here,” Christian Pulido ’17. “I have been fortunate enough to remain close with a good amount of my old friends, and talk to them on a somewhat regular basis. These type of friends act as lifelong anchors that are a witness to your growth, and these friendships can also evolve as each individual grows themself to help each other grow even more.”
“Remember to do what makes you happy, but please also put your love, your passions, your care for others back into the world, and love will always find you in return,” Mattea Whitlow’17. “If you are scared about what the future might hold, about making friends, juggling academics and extracurriculars, or finding what you want to do, remember that Virgil wasn’t lying when he said love conquers all.”
Next fall, GUS graduates will head off to a number of high schools, including: Berwick Academy, Beverly High School, Bishop Fenwick, Essex North Shore, Kimball Union Academy, Governors Academy, Hamilton Wenham Regional High School, Ipswich High School, Manchester Essex Regional High School, New Hampton School, Pingree School, St. John’s Prep, St. Mary’s, and Waring.
