Trustee Spotlight: Joan Rosenthal, P‘12, GP‘33, ‘34, ‘36

“Although the school has grown and evolved over the years, the heart of what makes a GUS education special remains unchanged.”

When our son, Alex (Class of '12), began sixth grade at GUS, I saw firsthand how a Glen Urquhart School education helps young minds grow – encouraging students to think independently, act responsibly, and explore the world with genuine curiosity. By the time Alex graduated, our family felt fortunate to be part of a vibrant community, rich in traditions and united by a commitment to making the world a better place through service field trips and grade-level initiatives that foster responsibility, from recycling and composting to other everyday acts of stewardship.

Today, as a grandparent, I’m grateful to watch that same magic unfold for a new generation.

Although the school has grown and evolved over the years, the heart of what makes a GUS education special remains unchanged. The commitment to experiential learning, the faculty's dedication, and the focus on building a kind, empathetic community are as strong today as when my family first walked through the doors.

Serving as a Trustee is my way of giving back to a place that has given so much to my family and helping ensure that future generations can enjoy this distinctive experience.
