Strong Girls United Book Club + Mentoring Program

The nonprofit Strong Girls United is currently accepting registration for FAM, their mentorship program that matches K-8th grade girls 1:1 with a college female athlete for the year for virtual meetups involving movement, mental skills, and mentorship. This program has an option for free enrollment. They are taking registrations until September 30th (or until the program is full). Visit sgunitedfoundation.org/fam and see the attached flyer for more information about this program and a link to join their free book club.

Assistant Head of School Brad Belin’s two daughters have been involved with the program over the last two years and are looking forward to being their third year. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Brad.

The Unlikely Art of Parental Pressure: A Positive Approach to Pushing Your Child to Be Their Best Self

Thursday, September 29 | 12:00 – 1:00

All members and their school’s parents are warmly welcome to attend free-of-charge.

Chris Thurber will join us for a discussion and allow us to consider how to push kids to succeed and find happiness in a challenging world without pushing them too far. The solution lies in eight methods for transforming harmful pressure into healthy pressure.

Each transformation is enlivened by case studies, grounded in research, and fueled by practical strategies that you can start using right away. By upending conventional wisdom, Dr. Chris Thurber will provide you with the next steps you need to nurture motivation, improve your interactions with your child, build deep connections, sidestep cultural pitfalls, and, ultimately, help your kids become their best selves.
