Upper School Parent Teacher Conferences

Dear Upper School Parents + Caregivers,

It's hard to believe it's already time for our second round of parent-teacher conferences! Teachers are looking forward to meeting with you on either Thursday, January 26, or Friday, January 27. Ahead of these meetings, I wanted to share some important information about what to expect:

  • Conferences will be held in person in Braemar. Masks remain optional.

  • Please remember to sign up for an hour-long block if you have not done so already.

    • As a reminder, conferences are intended for meetings between teachers + parents/caregivers - and NOT with students present.

  • You will be asked upon arrival to put on a name tag with both your own name and your child's name

  • After you have put on your nametag, you will proceed to visit individually with your child's Math, Science, English, Social Studies, and/or Humanities teachers, in whatever order is convenient.

  • World Language Conferences: In grades 6, 7, and 8, the following world language teachers will be available to meet during PTC:

    • 6th: Spanish ONLY (Tamara Villalva)

    • 7 + 8: Latin (Chevalier) AND Spanish (Rodrigo)

    • World Language conferences will NOT be held for grade 5 Spanish or grade 6 Latin

    • If you would like to speak with your child's 5th or 6th grade language teacher, or any specialist, please email that teacher directly and they will be happy to arrange a time to talk.

  • Teachers will be seated around the perimeter of Braemar and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Chairs will be provided in the center if you need to wait for a particular teacher to become available. Bruce Emerson will also be on hand, as always, to help as you arrive to understand the process and answer questions.

  • Each conference will last around five to seven minutes in length so that you and other parents/guardians can visit each of your child's teachers within your chosen hour-long block. Teachers may have a timer to help them keep track. If you find that you need more time, teachers will be happy to schedule a follow-up conversation for a future date.

  • Pam McCoy, our Director of Student Support, will also be available during conference times. If you would like to speak with her, please plan to meet with her once you've finished your meetings with classroom teachers.

Again, we look forward to seeing you all in a couple of weeks. Please feel free to reach out to me, or your child’s Homeroom teacher, with any questions about conferences.

Best,

Upper SchoolBrad Belin
