Fall Conferences: Grades 5-8

Dear Upper School Families,

It’s hard to believe, but our first round of parent-teacher conferences is already here! As we get ready, I want to share key details on how to sign up for upper school conferences (grades 5–8), along with some logistics to help you prepare for the end of the month.

Where?

Conferences are held in Braemar Gymnasium.

Who?

Families of students in grades 5-8. This is an adult-only conference. Childcare is available, during your conference time, on Thursday 12:30 - 5:45 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Please reach out to Lisette Lara if you have any questions regarding childcare.

When?

Thursday, October 23, or Friday, October 24.

How?

Please sign up for an hour-long block using the links below. As a reminder, conferences are intended for meetings between teachers and parents/caregivers, and not with students present. If you have more than one upper school student, please sign up for a separate time slot for each child.

Conference Day Set-up + Process

Upon arrival at Braemar, grab a nametag with your name and your child's name. Proceed to visit with your child's Math, Science, English, Social Studies, and/or Humanities teachers, in whatever order is convenient.

  • Bruce Emerson will also be on hand, as always, to help as you arrive to understand the process and answer questions.

  • Teachers will be seated around the perimeter of Braemar and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Chairs will be provided in the center if you need to wait for a particular teacher to become available.

Each conference will last around five to seven minutes in length so that you and other parents/guardians can visit each of your child's teachers within your chosen hour-long block. Teachers may have a timer to help them keep track. If you find that you need more time, teachers will be happy to schedule a follow-up conversation for a future date.

World Language Conferences: The following world language teachers will be available to meet during fall conferences: Tamara Vilalva (Spanish, grades 5-6), Rachelle Chevalier (Latin, grades 6-8), Martha Sterrett (Spanish, Grade 7-8)

Pam McCoy, our Student Support Coordinator, will also be available during conference times. If you would like to speak with her, please plan to meet with her once you've finished your meetings with classroom teachers.

Gretchen Forsyth + Brad Belin will be available to connect with current 8th grade parents/caregivers about the secondary school process.

We look forward to seeing you all in a couple of weeks. Please feel free to reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher or me with any questions about conferences. Alternatively, if you have any initial difficulties signing up with SignUpGenius, please let us know!

We look forward to connecting with you soon.

Sincerely,

Brad Belin
