The Great Backyard Bird Count

Seventh graders in Emilie Cushing’s science class participated in the Great Backyard Bird Count, a global citizen science project sponsored by The Cornell Lab, the National Audubon Society, and Birds Canada.

The goal of the project is to help scientists better understand global bird populations before one of their annual migrations. They saw cardinals, chickadees, seagulls, a hawk, a robin, and a sparrow.

JOIN IN THE FUN! This project runs through Monday, February 15 and it’s easy to participate! Simply watch birds for 15 minutes or more, at least once between now and Monday, and report what you see! Learn more and submit your data at birdcount.org.

Happy birding!
