June Message from Head of School
Dear GUS Friends and Family,
As another school year comes to a close, I find myself holding onto so many moments from these final weeks — the laughter and energy of Field Day, the creativity on display at Performing Arts Night, the joy of School of Rock, the courage of our eighth graders at Evening with the Graduates, and the bittersweet loveliness of Graduation. These are the moments that remind me, again and again, what makes Glen Urquhart School such a special place.
At GUS, the end of the year is never just an ending. It is a celebration of growth, of friendships made stronger, of risks taken, of hard work coming into view, and of a community that shows up for one another in so many different ways. This issue of The Tartan captures some of that spirit. You will find highlights from graduation, reflections from our wonderful alumni speakers, news of this year’s Tadler Grant recipient, updates on our DEI strategic plan, and recognition of faculty members celebrating important milestones.
You will also see us honor and thank those faculty and staff members whose paths are leading them beyond GUS. Goodbyes are never easy in a place like this, because people matter here. They leave their mark in classrooms, conversations, traditions, and in the lives of children. We are grateful for all they have given to GUS.
Even as we pause to celebrate all that this year has held, we are also looking ahead with excitement. This summer, construction begins on The Commons, an important and joyful step forward for our school. It is a project rooted in our belief in children, in creativity, in connection, and in the future of GUS. We look forward to sharing more with you as that work begins.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership, your trust, and your belief in this school. I hope this issue of The Tartan gives you a chance to see and feel what we have felt all year: that this is a community full of care, purpose, joy, and possibility.
Wishing you and your family a restful, playful, wonderful summer.
Trust and go forward,
