Alumni speakers are a treasured and impactful annual tradition at GUS graduation. Alumni speakers are always selected from the class that was graduating themselves as eighth graders when the current eighth grade class was in Kindergarten. I’ve been thinking a lot about learning and making mistakes. Maybe it was watching the 8th grade in The Little Mermaid? There is a girl who makes a seemingly big mistake, but also rights the wrong and saves the day. I keep thinking about how our children crave independence and how incredibly scary that is for us as parents.
