The annual upper school retreat has been a GUS tradition for over 20 years. For the last 10 of them, the upper school, including all teachers and students, have ventured to Camp Winaukee, in Moultonborough, NH. Earlier this month, our students and faculty made the trip north for two days of togetherness and fun.

The tournament started with moms who have children in Beverly Public Schools. It’s since grown to also include mothers of Essex Tech, Glen Urquhart School, Harborlight Montessori and Saints Academy students. There’s also two alumni teams, for mothers whose children have moved on from Beverly schools but who want to stay connected.

It is very exciting to share my first letter with you as interim head of school. It has been a busy few weeks since I took over in June, but what a thrill it was to play a role in graduation! This summer I was given the incredible opportunity of using funds from the Tadler Grant to undertake a journey to Italy in order to further develop the Latin program at GUS. My trip took place over the course of two weeks, starting with a few days in Florence, then moving on to Campania, and finishing with a week in Rome, the urbs aeterna (eternal city).
