In 1977, the 23 acres of ponds, meadows, wetlands, and woodlands, then known as the Orchidvale Estate, was chosen as the site of the newly formed Glen Urquhart School for its natural beauty, and for the teaching opportunities presented by its diverse topography. Now, 46 Years later, we are excited to be dreaming big about the future of our beautiful campus.

Alumni Profile: Ed Akerley '89

After graduating in 1989 as a member of one of the last 9th grade classes at GUS, Ed Akerely went on to graduate from Massachusetts Maritime Academy and now serves as a Lieutenant Commander in the US Coast Guard Reserve, a post he’s now held for 17 years!
